Without a creative midfield you cannot control games.United lack game-changing midfielders who have the ability to be Generals in the middle of the pitch.A weak midfield dries up goals and is vunerable to conceding goals as we saw this season how many goals united conceded due to sloppy play from the midfield crucial areas. To compete in European Football,u need world class midfielders who shine in every game.

Good point, I have been saying the same for the past 2 years. We need more dynamo in there that can dictate a game, like a younger Paul Scholes used to do. Will Moyes identify this though?

It doesn't sound like United are aiming for this sort of player though, with it being Wingers/attackers such as Bale and Ronaldo mentioned rather than Modric or Fabregas

Strootman and Fellaini are both suitable for the role, and so is Tiago. I suppose Moyes will try to sign one of them. Carrick is good for dictating the tempo, but he lacks energy and cannot help defensively,so since we're moving for a CB(Garay) i'd prefer Jones as DM over Carrick.

Is Fellaini good enough to cut it at United? I think he played to Everton's strengths but he would be fairly limited at United. Strootman on the other hand, is a quality player and I think would work wonders for United. As would Modric.
